How many Budweiser's or Coca-Cola's do you think are consumed during one NASCAR race weekend? Take Talledega Superspeedway as an example; sold out capacity at 175,000 seats, 3 races: Trucks, Nationwide, & Cup Series, & counting only 1 beverage per person -- thats already over a half million empty cans in the trash even before a typical fan gets his own engine fired up! The Green issues are exponentially compounded beyond the fan base as one looks at the nature of the sport itself - the fuel, the tires, the carbons released during a race! So how exactly can NASCAR say they are waving the Green Flag of Sustainability?
SustainLane's US City Rankings report and study on urban sustainability is an in-depth report with interesting indicators and provides insights into ongoing and upcoming city sustainability projects.
